Concrete Jack-Up Floating Floors, Resorts World Birmingham
We worked on the new Resorts World Complex at the Birmingham NEC, for Galliford Try. This will feature a new casino, conference centre, shopping centre, hotel, and cinema. We supplied several products and installed concrete jack up acoustic floating floors for 11 cinema.
Each cinema has a separate jack up floating floor system with an isolator natural frequency less than 10Hz. The floors form the basis of a physically separate ‘box-in-box’ for each screen.
We also helped with the design and supplied multiple types for hanger for the acoustic ceiling and M&E services. The hangers were selected to give the same frequency response as the floating floors. A variety of hangers were used as some of the ceiling voids were very small, necessitating low profile hangers.
Our LSP closed-cell acoustic foam was used for the perimeter isolation of each concrete floor. This ensures that the edge separation will be maintained during construction.
