Jack-Up Floating Floor Vibration Isolation, Glasgow Royal Concert Hall
Mason UK won the contract from Carillion to Design, Supply and Install Concrete Jack Up Floating Floors at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall specified by Arup Associates.
Our in house engineers designed the floating floors to meet the Arup’s acoustic specification and design loads. The jack up floating floor slabs were designed to support high edge loads due to block walls of up to 37kN/m. See the photo below showing jacks at close centres to support this heavy edge load.
Mason UK undertook the complete installation of the floating floors on 3 levels in the building. We had to interface with the electrical contractor on site as floor boxes and conduit were cast into the floor.
The second photo shows the floor in its jacked position with several rubber elements at close centres to support the heavy block wall.
Mason UK has also worked with the architect to specify the correct spring hangers to support the acoustic ceiling, and services in the service yard. The photos show the Mason 30N hangers installed ready to accept the ceiling or services.
Mason has also supplied other acoustic products for this project, including sway braces for block walls, acoustic hangers for ceilings and services, and acoustic foams.
