30N Series – Spring Hanger
The 30N hanger series can be fitted with a range of springs to suit acoustic and weight requirements. Spring hangers are used to isolate against low frequency noise from sources such as footfalls and mechanical vibration.
The 30N spring hangers incorporate a large lower hole to allow the hanger rod to swing through a 30° degree arc from side to side before contacting the cup bushing and short circuiting the spring. This is significantly more than comparable spring hangers on the market and reduces the risk of isolation failure due to hanger misalignment. They also incorporate a Low Dynamic Stiffness (LDS) rubber element. This part of the hanger isolates effectively against higher frequencies, typically from airborne sources.
When load is applied to these hangers, the springs will deflect, and the attachments will lower. If minimal movement is required, pre-compressed spring hangers (PC30N) can be used instead. The springs are compressed before installation, so they do not deflect until a pre-set percentage of the total load is applied, at which point they release and function identically to standard 30N series hangers. Care must be taken to ensure the pre-compression washers release once the installation is complete to ensure there is no vibration short-circuit.
We are able to manufacture special varieties of our acoustic hangers for any requirement. For example, our 30N hangers were hot dip galvanised to give added corrosion resistance for a project where hangers were used to support pipework on a roof top. See photo below.
