Birmingham City University (BCU) - 5/1/2012
Mason UK has just won the contract from Willmott Dixon to supply and supervise the installation of concrete jack up floating floors for two TV Studios on this project.
Acoustic bearings have already been supplied to support the walls of the studios.
Mason UK installed the floaitng floor in the Auditorium for Watkin Jones on the Bournemouth Church Project. The Auditorium floating floor was 150mm thick and 775 square metres in area. The floor was poured in a single operation and jacked to provide a 100mm air gap.
The Musikkenshus is designed to be the largest classical music venue in Northern Europe. To be the home of the Aalborg Philharmonic Orchestra, the project is substantial and the quality of the acoustic environment paramount.
For many years we have used neoprene as the elastomer in most Mason products. The main advantage of Neoprene was longevity and consistancy when compared to rubber. Rubber however is a better isolator exhibiting a lower natural frequency for the same deflection.
